Is this safe for insulin-resistant or Cushing's horses?
Plus+ contains no added sugars, no synthetic carbohydrates, and no grain-based fillers. The whole-food ingredients (spirulina, chia, kelp, rose hips) are appropriate for metabolic horses.
That said, for horses specifically managing EMS or insulin resistance, Crypto Aero Metabolism or Crypto-Lina are more targeted formulations. Plus+ works well alongside either for comprehensive support.
Can I feed Plus+ to a young or growing horse?
Yes. Plus+ is suitable for all life stages after weaning — yearlings, 2- and 3-year-olds in training, mature adults, and seniors. The amino acid profile from spirulina supports muscle development in growing horses.
For yearlings and younger horses, start with one scoop daily and increase based on size and condition.
How long until I see results?
Most owners report visible changes in coat shine within 2–3 weeks of daily use. Hoof growth quality improves over 4–6 weeks (hoof grows ~1/4 inch per month, so significant changes show after a full growth cycle).
For senior horses or those recovering from illness, improvements in energy and digestive function may appear within the first week.
My horse won't eat it. What should I try?
A small percentage of horses initially resist Plus+. Start with a half scoop mixed into a small amount of feed, and gradually increase over 5–7 days as they adjust to the taste.
Adding wet feed helps the powder mix in without separating. A small drizzle of molasses-free apple cider can also encourage picky eaters.
Why is the shelf life only 6–8 weeks?
Plus+ contains no synthetic preservatives. The natural ingredients (especially the chia seed oils and spirulina) maintain peak potency for 6–8 weeks after opening when stored properly.
Use the smaller 2.5 lb bag if you have one horse, or the 5 lb bag for multi-horse barns. Sealed bags before opening have longer shelf life.
Do I still need to add a separate hoof or joint supplement?
For most horses, no. Plus+ addresses hoof (biotin from chia and spirulina), joint (omega-3, anti-inflammatory ingredients), and gut health (marshmallow root, papain, licorice) in one formula.
Horses with severe specific conditions may benefit from targeted supplementation alongside Plus+, but the core "horse needs a daily multi" use case is covered.
Can I feed Plus+ alongside another vitamin/mineral supplement?
Generally no. Plus+ is designed to be a complete daily multi. Adding a second multivitamin can lead to over-supplementation of certain minerals (zinc, iron, copper), which can disrupt the balance Plus+ provides.
Targeted single-purpose supplements (specific joint products, calming aids) can be added if your vet recommends them for a particular condition.
Is this safe for other livestock?
Plus+ is formulated for horses, but the whole-food ingredients are non-toxic to other animals. Donkeys, mules, and zebras can be safely supplemented. Goats and sheep can have a partial dose. Pigs tolerate it well.
